Think About the Children
It seems lately you cannot read the news without gruesome details of children being abducted from their home. I started paying more attention to these sad events with the abduction of 9year old Jessica Lunsford. She was taken from her home on February 23, 2005. He grandparents had tucked her into bed around 10 PM. Her grandfather woke up around 4 AM and didn’t notice anything amiss. The next morning, her father found her gone. John Couey, a convicted sex offender, was arrested. He had been able to enter the Lunsford’s house through an unlocked door. He took her to his stepsister’s house, only 150 yard away from her home. Couey had not registered when he came to stay at his stepsister’s house, which means those around were unaware of the vile man living in their area. Jessica’s case is not the only case where a sex offender has struck twice. Sarah Lunde, 13, was last seen on April 9. She had been left home alone, and her mother’s ex boyfriend, David Onstott came by to see Kelly May Lunde. He and Sarah argued and he put her in a chokehold, which killed her. Her body was found partly clothed in a fishpond.
In 1997, Allison Brown was found murdered and sexually molested. Her killer was Willie Crain. Crain had known Allison’s mother.
Recently in Iowa, Jetseta Gage (10 years old), who was mentally challenged, was abducted by Roger Bentley. He had been a friend of the families, and even was working on the mom’s car. Her mom was at classes, when Jetseta’s brother saw her in Bentley’s pick up truck around 8:15 PM. The grandmother went to check on the girl around 8:30 PM and found her missing.
It is sick that our nation is allowing these men more than one opportunity to prey on defenseless children. Florida congress has recently passed the Jessica Lunsford Act, which says that convicted child molesters will get a minimum of 25 years in prison, and have to wear an electronic, ankle, tracking device. Personal, I believe castration would work better. But at least the Florida Government is willing to take care of its children since the parents seems to be lacking in that area. Why aren’t these parents taking care, protecting their children? Three of the girls I posted about, moms’ were friends with the sexual predators. How could they allow men like that around their children? I believe the parents hold partial responsibility. Children rely on their parents to protect them. In this case, they failed. With five kids, my parents managed to keep track of all of us. Even when my sister, Kristin, and I would try to run away; we’d never make it past the front yard. One could make an argument that it is the break down of the family that allows sexual predators like this an opening. None of those children came from a stable two family home. I wish people could look at this and see what happens when we allow laws to slide. Whitney Houston sings “I believe Children are Our Future.” If this is true then why aren’t we protecting their lives? It is bad enough the men like Couey, Onstott, Cain, Bentley, and countless others to violate children in the worst possible way to begin with, but how can we live with ourselves as a nation to allow them to do it twice?
Silence No More
As a response to one of my previous posts, Dave claimed that he was interested in changing hearts, and not forcing our views (through laws) onto others. This got me thinking on if not Christianity, what do we base our laws on? Essentially laws are people’s opinions that are made into legal rules that are used in governing our nation. No matter how people like to think otherwise, someone’s world view is going to influence our laws. The problem is that most people view that it is either the Christian world view is influencing lawmakers’ decisions, or there is no worldview is involved. This is a huge misconception that has led to the disintegration of our society. Right now the prevailing worldview that guides Washington is Secular Humanism. My question now is why is it okay for secular humanists to push their view on by creating laws, but I am not allowed to support and vote for officials who have Christian convictions? Laws were changed to stop hateful racist action, but they did not change people’s hearts. Today there are still many people who are racist, I go to school just 20 miles away from an active branch of the KKK. Laws are meant to protect us, but now we electing officials who are using a non-Christian worldview to create laws that will slowly lead to the destruction of America. Our nation is a nation that claims a basis of being free, but it is only with a Christian foundation that we can truly be free.
As we vote on those who inevitable will make our laws, we do not look at the past nor do we look at the future. We see the laws as relevant to the here and now, and we ignore what consequences they can cause in the future. I don’t understand how Christians can sit back and allow legislators to be elected who do not share in God’s laws. Especially when Christians claim it is not our right to push our views on other people, yet it is okay for others to push their views on us? We should praise God in all we do. By electing Christians into office, it is one way that we show our belief in God, instead of contradicting ourselves. And I know that the past semester, I definitely let me actions contradict my believes, but fortunately for me I serve a merciful God, who has forgiven me my sins. Which means I can start righting wrongs now.
If one looks through out history, they can see what happens when God is not the center of government. The Soviet Union was atheist, and 20 million people were slaughter, and eventually the SU collapsed. Hitler was anti-religions, and as a result 6 million Jews were grotesquely ruined. The French revolution was based on lies and man centered. It ultimately failed…where as the Glorious revolution in England was successful without any bloodshed because it was based on the Glory of God. Not man’s selfishness. Just some things to ponder…
Christians the time has come to take a stand and Raise Our Voices! Silent no MoreAim at heaven and you will get earth thrown in. Aim at earth and you get neither. C. S. Lewis Education without values, as useful as it is, seems rather to make man a more clever devil. C. S. Lewis
Day of Truth Add-On
If any of you read my last post, "Day of truth", I had someone reply that said that what I was saying was cruel. "...Gays want to be treated like everyone else? Then take your beating with the rest of the "wierd" kids. Teens and preteens are cruel, get a shrink and get over it." At first I though, 'ya know maybe I am being too mean, but as I thought more about it, I decided that I wasn't being mean enough. I would like to know whay gays think that they deserve such special treatment? Children get made fun of all the time. My mom has one client who just trasnfered to Kentucky from Michigan. The child is being harassed at his school because of his acent. Where are all the Michiganers wanted a day of silence for this child? What about the child that is poor and wear's nasty clothes to school? Or who is going to stand up for the smelly kid? Or even the child that is just different than the school's norms? What makes gays so dag gone special that they think they should be the only one's who don't get made fun of? Further more, I'd like you to find me one gay kid who has NEVER said something mean or mailcious about another person? Goodluck because that is a crime we are all guilty of. If homosexuals want to be treated equally then they need to quit asking for special privaleges. I disagree with their lifestyle, but have nothing against them personally. What I do not like is how they think they deserve laws designed specifically for them. Why doesn't give Walt Disney have national Straight day?
Day Of Truth
Gay Rights activists are trying to created Wensday as a day of silience in our nation's public schools to try and stop harassment of gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and trans gender students. The students who want to support this will not speak for the entire day. This includes them not speaking to teachers or the administration. How ridiculous is this? I am sorry but homosexuals are not the only ones who get picked on in school. I got made fun of all the time in junior high, and that was just because I listened to Oldies instead of pop music. C'mon, the poor kids get made fun of...the slow learning kids get made of. I'm not saying we should condone these actions, but gays want to be treated like everyone else? Then take your beating with the rest of the "wierd" kids. Teens and preteens are cruel, get a shrink and get over it.
At least The Alliance Defense Fund is trying to combat this with Day of Truth. This is where students will wear T-shirts and pass out cards, during school and answer questions on why they are against homosexuality. Here is the message that will be on the card:
"I am speaking the Truth to break the silence. I believe in equal treatment for all, and not special rights for a few. I believe in loving my neighbor, but part of that love means not condoning detrimental personal and social behavior. I believe that by boldly proclaiming the Truth, hurts will be halted, hearts will be healed, and lives will be saved " I think this is amazing that The ADF is willing to take a stand and spread the Truth...since our nations schools tend to like hide all things about Christianity. Like the girl in New England who wasn't allowed to read the manger story to her class even though the assignment was to bring something of holiday tradition from your family. Its time Christians raise up and let our voices be heard

Heading in the RIGHT Direction
West Virginia just passed the English Bill which declares English as its official language. Can I just say way to go West Virginia. Glad to see at least one state gets it. Hopefully more states will follow and we can get rid of this billingual education junk. Hopefully we can get something similar passed in KY. Florida has a bill on the table that allows you to carry concealed weapons, and if u believe your life is being threaten, you are allowed to pre-emptively protect yourself. Texas has a cool law to, your property now extends to the curb which means if you look out your bedroom window, and see someone break into your car, you can shoot them bc it is seen as endangering your home. Its about time we were allowed to defend ourselves without being shot ourselves. C'mon Kentucky we need to get on the ball and get some nice laws like this. And in just 3 months I will finally turn 21 and be able to get my own weapons permitt :) then once I graduate I will buy my own gun.
AAA Sucks
So glad that my dad is paying good money for me to have 24 hour roadside service from AAA who is no help when you really need it. My car's driver side front tire somehow magically got shredded. I pulled up to the speaker at Taco Bell, and by time I started to drive to the window, my tire was completely flappy flat. As I get out to look at it, I discovered it had a huge gash in it. I didn't hit a nasty curb 0r don't think anyone could have slashed it. You think if that had happened I would have noticed. And Eric and I both left our cell phones in the dorm, so we had to stand outside the drive thru window and use Taco Bell's. Can I just say it was cold outside. I'm glad Eric was a good sport. I had to call like four seperate numbers before I finally got ahold of someone, and then they told me that I do not have a valid account, which is crap because my cards says that it is vaild till 2006, and so the operator told me to hold while she talked to her supervisor. And that took forever so I just hung up and called my suitemates (who are the very best, even if they brought Dustin who only talked abut his roommates puke in the sink...nasty i know) and they came to pick me up. But now my car is being left unattended at the Taco Bell parking lot, in the middle of ghetto marion. I hope its safe...im really freaking out about it. Oh but wait the evening doesn't end there. I call my parents in tears, and they are like well we'll deal with it in the morning!. And I am like F that...im tired, im stressed, i need a little parent support here. I understand its 3 AM there time and they are old, but i needed them. Its not like this is an everyday occurance for me. Especially with everything else thats been going on. So my mom is just mean, my dad lectured me about going out late...hello I left my dorm about 12:15...got back over an hour and half later bc of a stupid tire. After hanging up with my dad I get on my computer, and wait for it...a awful bloodcurdling scream. I mean we are talking a terrified Jamie Lee Curtis scream. It didn't sound like someone just goofing off. So being the dutiful citizen I am, want to go see if I can help someone...which Rania pointed out was stupid to go out there...and she's right, I won't have my gun for another 3 months (thats when ill finally turn 21). So I do the next best thing: I call campus security (yeah, like they'd actually do anything other than write parking tickets). I asked them if they wouldn't mind doing a walk through of campus to make sure everything is ok...is that really too much to ask? One registered sex offender has already been found in the REC's female locker room, wierd guys tried to get in Shatford Hall (freshman girls dorm), and who could forget the creepy guy from Beatnicks Coffee Shop/Bar that tried to get us to go to a non real Creed concert and Liska, julie and esther all gave him great details on where we lived (thankfully that was last year so im safe in KEM). ANyways back to the point. The officer was rude to me. I'm sorry I don't think I was out of line asking him to walk around campus and make sure things are fine. IWU's campus is not very big. It would take him 30 minutes max. I gave him my name and dorm so he would know it wasn't a prank. I just want to be safe, and want others to be safe too. Was I out of line to ask him to make sure nothing was really out of the ordinary? I really hope my car is okay...Though eric did do all he could to try and change the tire...stupid lug nuts. that my dad just informed how to get off...lot of good it does me now. Well, I think I am gonna listen to some soft music (which i am soo into right now) and attempt to sleep since I have to sit through a chapel on relationships tomorrow. You know cause its gonna help me and my imaginary boyfriend for us to be there.
MinuteMen
MinuteMen are no longer a thing of the past. Hundreds of volunteers have agreed to help patrol Arizona's border with Mexico. They will all meet up and then spread across the border and help border patrol spot illegal aliens. All I have to say is FINALLY! I am glad people are beginning to step up and preventing illegal alliens from waltzing into this country and sucking off our economy. Why should they be able to come over here, not pay taxes, but benefit from us paying? As illegal immigrates they are not protected by the Constitution. Why should they benefit from our social programs when they do nothing to put money into them. Some of us work hard for our money and are already being taxed on wasteful programs, and then we have the added burden of illegal aliens. Not too mention the threat that anyone could fly into Mexico and just walk across the border. We need tighter border control to protect our country, protect our citizens, and preserve our way of life. This makes me wish I lived in that area because I sure as heck would have gone to protect our borders. Its a about time someone was.
