Silence No More
As a response to one of my previous posts, Dave claimed that he was interested in changing hearts, and not forcing our views (through laws) onto others. This got me thinking on if not Christianity, what do we base our laws on? Essentially laws are people’s opinions that are made into legal rules that are used in governing our nation. No matter how people like to think otherwise, someone’s world view is going to influence our laws. The problem is that most people view that it is either the Christian world view is influencing lawmakers’ decisions, or there is no worldview is involved. This is a huge misconception that has led to the disintegration of our society. Right now the prevailing worldview that guides Washington is Secular Humanism. My question now is why is it okay for secular humanists to push their view on by creating laws, but I am not allowed to support and vote for officials who have Christian convictions? Laws were changed to stop hateful racist action, but they did not change people’s hearts. Today there are still many people who are racist, I go to school just 20 miles away from an active branch of the KKK. Laws are meant to protect us, but now we electing officials who are using a non-Christian worldview to create laws that will slowly lead to the destruction of America. Our nation is a nation that claims a basis of being free, but it is only with a Christian foundation that we can truly be free.As we vote on those who inevitable will make our laws, we do not look at the past nor do we look at the future. We see the laws as relevant to the here and now, and we ignore what consequences they can cause in the future. I don’t understand how Christians can sit back and allow legislators to be elected who do not share in God’s laws. Especially when Christians claim it is not our right to push our views on other people, yet it is okay for others to push their views on us? We should praise God in all we do. By electing Christians into office, it is one way that we show our belief in God, instead of contradicting ourselves. And I know that the past semester, I definitely let me actions contradict my believes, but fortunately for me I serve a merciful God, who has forgiven me my sins. Which means I can start righting wrongs now.
If one looks through out history, they can see what happens when God is not the center of government. The Soviet Union was atheist, and 20 million people were slaughter, and eventually the SU collapsed. Hitler was anti-religions, and as a result 6 million Jews were grotesquely ruined. The French revolution was based on lies and man centered. It ultimately failed…where as the Glorious revolution in England was successful without any bloodshed because it was based on the Glory of God. Not man’s selfishness. Just some things to ponder…
